It’s traditional at Bethel to open our Sunday service with greetings and announcements and to include announcements in the bulletin. For the time being and until we can resume public worship at our church, weekly announcements will be posted on our website and on Bethel’s Facebook group page.

Each week, I learn more about how to use the resources available. This week, I learned that if I release the online worship video as a “premiere” on YouTube and if you watch the service during the premiere time slot, you have to opportunity to talk to one another through a special “live chat” feature.  You’ll need to have or sign up for a free YouTube account and be logged in when you view it, but otherwise, it’s fairly simple to use.

This Thursday, April 9, at 7:00 p.m. we’ll be observing Maundy Thursday online. The service will include an opportunity to participate (virtually) in the Love Feast, an old Methodist tradition dating back to the days of the circuit riders and Methodist “meetings”. While it’s similar to communion, it does not require a pastor to bless the elements (bread and juice), so your family can literally participate at home while I lead you through it online. You’ll need to have some form of bread, a pitcher of water, and cups for each participant onhand during the service.

At 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, I’ll be leading you through the Stations of the Cross. I chose 3:00 p.m. because that is the time it is estimated that Christ drew his last breath.

And finally at our regular worship time of 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 12, we’ll celebrate Christ’s defeat of death and resurrection.

All three services will release as “premieres” posted to the public Facebook page and in your private Facebook group. I hope you’ll join me.

Public in-person worship services and other activities on church property continue to be suspended until further notice.
