Join us at 7:00 p.m. here online as we observe an old Methodist tradition, the Love Feast, to commemorate Jesus’ last acts with his disciples.
If we were meeting together at church, a traditional Maundy Thursday service would include communion. Because we are unable to gather in person this year, the Love Feast is an appropriate substitution as it doesn’t require an ordained or appointed pastor to administer the Sacrament – any Christian present may conduct it.
I’ll provide the litany, the spoken words, and the hymns. By gathering a few things from around the house, you’ll participate in the safety of your home as you shelter in faith.
So, before we begin Thursday, gather the following and have them ready:
- enough bread or cake for each person in your household to have a portion.
- 1 cup or glass of water or another beverage of your choice for each person present.
- A candle to light.
- A basin of water.
- A towel.
The video will be released as a premiere on YouTube at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, and a page with the link will be posted here at http://www.bethel-seymour.org/messages and on our public Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/BethelUnitedMethodistSeymour.
I look forward to seeing you there!
